Kvidha's engine renders true book pages inside the editor, with drop caps, running headers, and two-page spreads live as you type, and print-grade typesetting when you export.
Pick your trim size (5×8, 6×9, 5.5×8.5, or a custom size) and the editor immediately shows real book pages. Chapter openers drop the way they will in print. Small-caps run-in reads the way it will on the shelf. Verso and recto pages sit in a proper spread with a real gutter between them.
Word's Print Layout shows pages, but letter-size manuscript pages, not your book's trim. Vellum does typeset a real book, just in a preview pane beside your text rather than the surface you write on. Scrivener keeps you in a plain text editor. In Kvidha, the page you write on is the finished book page.
Every book you export ships with typography that used to require a professional typesetter and a copy of InDesign.

Proper small-caps run-in, three- or four-line depth, and first-chapter-only mode.
Optical margin alignment
Punctuation hangs outside the text block so justified edges read perfectly aligned to the eye.

Every line of body text registers on a shared vertical rhythm across facing pages.
Hyphenation and orphan/widow control
Tuned per preset, not left to the browser.

Each preset is a coordinated set of typographic decisions, from font pairing and chapter-opener treatment to scene-break glyphs, folio position, and running-header style. They follow classic book-typography practice rather than theme-picker guesswork. Compared with the fixed style sets in tools like Vellum and Atticus, you get more distinct visual identities, with deeper control over each.

Modern, Minimal, Non-fiction

Romance, Thriller, Fantasy, Sci-Fi
Genre-appropriate openings and ornaments.
Accessible, Poetry, YA, Middle Grade, Academic
Targeted layouts and readability choices.

Every knob exposed for authors who want to build their own.
Trade paperback
A traditional serif with a three-line drop cap and small-caps run-in.
One of sixteen presets. Each pairs fonts, chapter openers, drop caps, scene-break glyphs, and folios into a coordinated book identity, then hands you every knob to adjust.
Chapter One
Every great story very great story begins with a single sentence that draws the reader in. The best openings are both surprising and inevitable, the kind that make you lean forward, curious about what comes next.
The craft of writing is the craft of seeing clearly. You must notice what others pass over, and find the words to make them see it too.
The cover designer sits inside the same product as the editor. Design your front, spine, and back on a real wrap layout with CMYK soft-proof, ISBN barcode, and spine-width calculation from your page count. Export front-only for KDP listing images, wrap for print, or single-face PDF for social.
The Publish workflow then takes the same manuscript to Amazon KDP, Apple Books, IngramSpark, and Draft2Digital, with edition formats and platform-appropriate exports chosen for you.

Fifteen editor themes and fifteen color themes. Write in the light you want, from stark white paper to a warm late-night dark.
For anyone who cares about what's under the hood: PDF is typeset by Tectonic (a modern XeLaTeX engine) through a set of Lua filters that we author and maintain. EPUB, HTML, DOCX, and RTF go through Pandoc with our own Lua rewrites for the things Pandoc doesn't handle well out of the box: verse blocks, endnotes, chapter opener images, matter routing, cross-references with auto-resolved labels.
The result is book-grade output: typesetting that would hold up to an experienced book editor's eye, produced automatically from the same manuscript you draft in.
The fastest way to feel what the engine does is to open a real chapter in the editor and switch trim sizes. The pages reflow in front of you.
